Owners of 1989 to 1995 Thunderbird Super Coupe models will receive a typical performance improvement of 15 rear wheel horsepower when upgrading to one of our mass airflow units. This is because the 1989-1991 models came from the factory with a 55mm unit that flows 550 cfm and the 1992-1995 models were equipped with a "70mm" unit that flows only 555 cfm.
Our 73mm unit flows 700 cfm, or enough flow to support at least 600 HP, and our 76mm unit flows almost 800 cfm which is capable of supporting far more power than anyone with a supercoupe can generate. Some of the performance increase is actually the result of a slight boost increase, as roots style superchargers are more sensitive to restrictions on the inlet side than most other forms of supercharging.
Even though the 1989-1992 models came from the factory with 30lb injectors, and the 1993-1995 models came with 36's, they all use the same calibration. This is because the injector calibration is handled by the computer, and not the MAF unit. Dyno testing has shown that a K&N filter in the factory box assembly is sufficient (and recommended) so long as you have removed the air silencer box located below the lower half of the stock air filter assembly.
For injector applications larger than stock, please contact us or a knowledgable distributor of our products to ensure that you are receiving the correct product.
