WHY USE OUR CL7140 DIABLOSPORT PREDATOR OVER OTHER TUNING OPTIONS?

Owners of 2005 and newer Mustangs are faced with a unique situation that
did not exist in the past. The new computer used on these vehicles are
so sensitive that a computer re-program is necessary when you install an
air intake that substanitally increases the airflow available to the
engine. Even if you were to cut the factory mass airflow body free from
the lid of the stock airbox assembly and clamp a cone air filter
directly on it, the air/fuel ratio would jump from the safe (rich) stock
level of 12:1 to a much leaner than ideal 14:1. When you increase the
size of the air meter housing, it goes even leaner.
Since we were the first company to offer a complete air intake upgrade
for the 2005 Mustang, we identified early on that it was important to
offer a complete tuning solution that can be used by anyone, regardless
of whether or not they had the option of testing their vehicle on the
dyno. As of this moment, there are no less than 10 different computers
used in the 2005 and 2006 model Mustang vehicles. Regardless of which
tuning option you use, you will HAVE to purchase a handheld programmer
from someone in order to deliver the tuning adjustments to your
computer. Even if you go to a dyno shop to have your vehicle "custom
tuned" on the dyno, you will still have to purchase a programmer in
addition to paying for the dyno time and their programming. If you
"mail order" a programmer other than the CL7140 Predator that we
provide, even if it is the standard 7140 Predator tuner, it will require
that you have a custom tune loaded into the programmer that is specific
to your factory computer's box code. This means that you must first
identify which computer came in your vehicle from the factory before the
appropriate tune can be installed into the handheld programmer. In
order to eliminate the hassles involved with having to load custom tunes
into these programmers, we have worked with Diablosport to offer a
simple plug-and-play solution.
When using our CL7140 Predator tuner, it comes pre-loaded with the
appropriate tunes for ALL of the computers used in the 2005 to present
Mustangs, including the V6 models. The tuner will automatically
recognize which computer is in the vehicle, and it will make the
necessary tuning adjustments based upon the octane quality of fuel that
you select from the menu. With this tuner, you do not have to worry
about which computer your car came with from the factory. With other
tuning options, you must have custom tunes loaded into the programmer
that are specfic to your computer box code. This also makes you
dependent on the tuner that provided you with the programmer if you
decide that you need to make changes, or want to use the tuning device
on another vehicle.
Since the Predator has it's own operating system contained within the
unit, you are able to make all adjustments without the need to interface
the handheld device with a computer. The only reason why you would ever
need to hook the Predator up to a PC would be to perform a new revision
update or to transfer information that you have data logged into the
unit for advanced diagnostics. If there is anything at all that you
would like to change about the programming on the vehicle, it can be
easily performed by yourself without the need of involving a
professional tuner. Through a simple user interface, you can easily
change important settings such as: Top speed limiter, rev limiters, tire
diameter, rear axle ratio, ignition timing and wide open throttle fuel
delivery.
If you make future changes to the vehicle that effect the tuning
requirements of the engine, these adjustments are easily performed
through the Predator. Using your existing tune as a base, you can
modify parameters as necessary and then load the adjusted tune into the
computer. If making significant changes to the fuel or timing, we
strongly reccomend that you use a dyno that is equipped with a wide-band
air/fuel ratio analyzer, so that appropriate adjustments can be made.
In summary, we feel that the CL7140 is the best tuning option when
using our air intake upgrades for the following reasons:
- ALL tunes for ALL computers are pre-loaded into the unit. It does
not matter which computer your vehicle came with from the factory.
These tunes are available for 87, 91 and 93 octane, as well as a "base
tune" if you would like to make your own custom modifications from stock
levels. If you choose the tune that is appropriate for your octane
level, you will receive an appropriate air/fuel ratio and level of
timing without needing to place your vehicle on the dyno.
- Advanced tuning adjustments may be made to the vehicle without the
need of a PC or a professional tuning shop. You will not be at the
mercy of tuners to perform additional tuning adjustments when using this
unit.
- The "real time data" function of the Predator is a valuable feature
that allows you to monitor engine parameters. This makes advanced
tuning adjustments possible to experienced users without the need of a dyno.
- Cost savings. Compare the additional cost of purchasing the CL7140
Predator in the combo package, as opposed to the total cost of
purchasing another programmer from a custom tune shop with the possible
added costs of their programming fees and dyno time charges.
We have many fine distibutors that sell our air intakes as a combo with
tuners. Some of these distributors are providing our CL7140 tuner,
while others will supply programmers that require custom tunes to be
loaded. If you want to purchase our CL7140 tuner with our air intake as
a combo package, be sure to ask the distributor which tuner will be
provided in your kit. If you have any questions, please feel free to
contact us during our regular business hours.
