C&L TRUEFLOW INTAKE PLENUM FOR 2V 4.6L MUSTANGS

SuperChrome (satin) powder coat shown above
We at C&L Performance are extremely pleased to offer a truly unique product that is sure to excite all owners of 1996 to present 2 valve 4.6L Mustang vehicles. What we learned during the development and testing for this product is that everyone who has purchased an upgrade throttle body for one of these vehicles absolutely MUST use one of these new plenums to maximize horsepower on their vehicle. Instead of just making bold claims or unrealistic horsepower estimations, we enlisted the help of several independent dyno facilities to put this new product through rigorous testing and to prove exactly how much horsepower can be REALISTICALLY expected. The first series of tests were performed by Blake Walker of Walker Dyno Tune (www.walkerdynotune.com) in Birmingham, AL. Testing more than one vehicle, Blake was able to show solid and consistent gains. All pulls in every configuration were done at least twice for consistency and repeatability, and the results were all within 1 HP of each other. In addition to Blake's testing, Dan Hourigan of Dynojet wanted to try this new product on his supercharged 2000 GT Mustang. We have also included the results from his testing as well. Dan is very cautious about logging every possible variable, and has come to the conclusion that the installation of our new plenum and 75mm TB combo gave him a consistent 15-20 rear wheel HP and Torque gain pretty much throughout the power curve. Detailed information and dyno scans for these test vehicles can be found through the links at the bottom of this page. We feel that the test results provided on this site are both consistent and representative of what most people should expect to see on other vehicles. If you have any questions about the testing procedures or the results posted on this site, please feel free to contact Blake Walker at (205) 661-6986 or Dan Hourigan, who is the sales manager at Dynojet, may be contacted by e-mail at dwh@dynojet.com. As more businesses provide us with their independent dyno test data, we will continue to make their results available on this website as well.

By showing the results of more than one vehicle with a good combination of bolt-ons, you can see that this product offers a nice benefit for both modified and nearly stock setups. Realistically, the installation of this plenum and 75mm throttle body on very mildly modified vehicles will add at least 8 rear wheel horsepower, and it is possible to receive as much as 11-15 rear wheel horsepower and up to 20 ft/lb of torque on more heavily modified vehicles with a good combination of bolt-ons. Supercharged vehicles can expect even bigger gains, where improvements of between 15-25 HP should not be uncommon.

Something that cannot be stressed enough is that the performance of this product is STRONGLY dependent upon which throttle body is used. Although most people will commonly feel that a 75mm throttle body is overkill on a naturally aspirated 4.6L engine, our dyno testing, and the dyno testing of many others has proven otherwise. Prior to the release of this new plenum, even a 70mm throttle body was quite useless when using the factory upper intake plenum. In order to illustrate the differences in performance that can be seen using different throttle bodies, we have added a specific page dedicated to showing actual dyno comparisons of the most popular aftermarket throttle bodies, including a new 75mm unit from Accufab. From the beginning, we have stated that the 75mm throttle body generates the most horsepower when used with our new plenum. Put simply, the size and flow entry design of the throttle body determines the maximum airflow of the plenum, and therefore the maximum performance that can be achieved. An in-depth explaination of this can be found on the Product Design page, although all you really need to do is see the dyno results. They speak for themselves. We hope that the following information covers any questions that you might have about the function and benefits of this exciting new product and that you will see that this product truly is THE next bolt-on for 4.6L Mustang GT owners.
